Linda Hepworth was the Pacific Masters Update newsletter editor for 10 years and she became the newsletter’s longest standing editor. The newsletter was sent to more than 20,000 members. The editor role was shared with a small group of people, with each editor responsible for 2 monthly newsletters every 2 to 4 months, In this role she communicated with event directors and Pacific’s administrator to ensure essential information was included accurately and on a timely basis. She mentored new editors to get them up to speed with the job requirements and the technology necessary to distribute the emailed newsletter. She stepped in when the LMSC was short on volunteers willing to serve as an editor. Linda was an excellent writer, and her stories featured content on local members, swim event information, and swimming news of interest to the LMSC’s members. To recognize the value of the editor, in 2024 the Pacific LMSC started paying the newsletter editor a small stipend. In addition to being the newsletter editor, Linda served as a member of the USMS House of Delegates for 10 years.
