Alana served as the New England LMSC (NELMSC) Board Chair and Communications Chair (2016). She was a National Long Distance Committee member (2017–2021) as well. Alana improved the NELMSC’s website and managed its newsletter, Instagram and Twitter accounts. Alana was also the Communications Chair for the New England Masters Swim Club. She received the June Krauser Communications Award (2019) for her contributions. As a Certified USMS Level 3 Coach and ALTS Instructor, Alana was the Assistant Coach for the Charles River Masters (CRM) (2017-2020) and the Head Coach for the Worcester Area Masters (WAM) (2012-2013). Alana promoted open water swimming and she received the NELMSC Frank Wuest Open Water Swimming Award (2022).
