Ted Haartz U.S. Masters Swimming Staff Appreciation Award

Teddy Decker, of the New Mexico LMSC, received the 2023 Ted Haartz Staff Appreciation award. Her financial savvy and practical approach to the USMS Treasurer position helped USMS navigate and cope with the pandemic financial operations. She helped guide discussion on critical cost cutting measures. Teddy mentored and supported the finance and accounting staff transition and led the way in standardizing the LMSC financial reporting to insure an efficient process. Teddy was on several National Committees, including Audit (2015-2019), Finance (2018-2019), and Investment (2020-2023). She served on the planning committee for the 2017 USMS Leadership Conference. Teddy was elected to the At Large Director for the Southwest Zone position in 2019 and as the USMS Treasurer (2020-2023). She did all of this in addition to her multiple roles with the New Mexico LMSC where over time, she served as Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer, and Officials Chair. She had a passion for swimming and as a Level 2 USMS Certified Coach, Teddy organized stroke clinics and supported swim meets and open water events.
