U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award

Alina is a volunteer and official who served on both the Southern Pacific LMSC and USMS Officials Committees. As SPMS Officials Committee Chair, Alina has been responsible for meet administration at local, regional, zone and national levels. She worked diligently to ensure meets were adequately staffed with officials and actively recruited officials. She and her committee developed educational training materials for officials, ensuring they are aware of the USMS specific requirements for meet referees and shared best practices for interactions with swimmers. She also recruited officials and maintained a list of USMS certified officials. Alina circulated a survey to understand members’ opinions about officials, to ensure swim meets remained an enjoyable and positive experience for all. As a member of the USMS Officials Committee, Alina worked to ensure the roll-out of the Officials Certification Program in 2016.
