Lynn Hazlewood served USMS for over 30 years, including 15 years on the USMS Long Distance Committee. She was the first chair of the Open Water Committee when it was established, holding the position for 6 years. She ran the Open Water Task Force and she contributed greatly to the development of the first Open Water Manual. Lynn received the Ransom J. Arthur M.D. Award in 2010 for her invaluable service. She was also active within her LMSC, where she co-founded and served as the meet registrar for the Jim McDonnell Lake Swims and Clinic. The two-day event had been held annually for 28 years, on Lake Audubon, in Reston, Virginia.
