U.S. Masters Swimming Dorothy Donnelly Service Award

Jim began his service to USMS as a USA Swimming official for youth and Masters meets in the Pacific Northwest. He gained expertise in open water swimming while refereeing the Last Gasp of Summer, an open water event run by his club, Blue Wave Aquatics. In 2013, Jim volunteered to take on the PNA LMSC Open Water Coordinator position and he “hit the ground running” with new ideas and great enthusiasm. Jim improved the quality and timeliness of USMS’s critical requirements for open water events. His organization and motivation to see that each race succeeds has benefited the numerous sanctioned events in PNA. As a board member, Jim can be counted on to bring common sense and civility to the table. On the national level, Jim has served on the USMS Long Distance Committee.
