U.S. Masters Swimming Kerry O'Brien Coaches Award
Recipient: | Patti Scott-Baier |
Year: | 2010 |
LMSC: | Pacific |
Patti Scott-Baierwas honored for her work with Tuolumne County Aquatic Masters (TCAM) and she was awarded the 2005 Pacific Masters Coach of the Year. She had been instrumental in the founding start-up of TCAM and she helped design the pool. The TCAM program emphasized swimming for life. Some members participated in local, regional and national competition and some swimmers started out as novice swimmers in Masters Swimming 101 and 102 classes. Her swimmers liked her way of creating workout sets designed so that all of the swimmers completed a set at the same time. Patti helped put together the Pinecrest Open Water Swim and the TCAM Invitational Short Course Swim Meet. In a town of 8,000, her team grew to over 500 Masters swimmers and it was a coaching achievement that very few have matched. She was the head coach of the fourth largest coach club in U.S. Masters Swimming.
