Don Mehl founded the Rio Grande Swim Club in his home LMSC of Border (now known as West Texas) shortly after his age group career finished in the 1970s. He has been serving faithfully ever since. Don has both coached and swum at every pool in the El Paso Area. Nationally, he served as an Open Water Committee member and regionally as Coaches and Top Ten Chair in Border.  Don represented the LMSC at numerous USMS Conventions, often serving as their lone voting delegate.
