Email Preference Center Information
Helping get the right information to the right member
To help our members get the information they are looking for, we have created an email preference center that is personalized to your interactions with USMS. Only certain types of members will see certain preference center options. For example, only certified coaches will see the Education and Club and Coach Services. Members who are not certified won't see them but will see the others. This page will help you understand who sees certain preferences and what emails are sent from that preference.
Membership Information
All active USMS members will see this option.
The only way to opt back in is by checking the preference box again.
Emails sent from this preference center:
- 'Welcome to USMS' onboarding sequence
- STREAMLINES newsletter
- SWIMMER magazine notification
- Membership contests
- Membership renewal (until Jan. 1, when your membership expires)
- Announcing new benefits
Coach or ALTS Instructor
All active USMS members who have coach certification or ALTS certification will see this option.
If you opt out, you will be automatically opted back in when you get a new coach certification or ALTS certification Or, you can check the preference box again.

- STREAMLINES for Coaches
- STREAMLINES for ALTS Instructors
- Coach mentorship program
Club Contact
All member and non-member club contacts will see this option.
NOTE: Club contacts can not opt out of these communications
Emails sent from this preference center:
- Potential member emails from the club detail page or trial membership forms
- Club renewal information
- Club surveys
- Club contest information
- Announcements on new membership offerings
- Announcements on USMS campaigns and annual planning calendars
Educational Opportunities
All active USMS members who have coach certification, ALTS certification, or notified us that they have an interest in coaching will see this option.
If you opt out, you will be opted back in when you get a new coach certification, ALTS certification, or express interest in coaching through the website by checking the box on your Community profile or through membership registration. Or, you can check the preference box again.
Emails sent from this preference center:
- Coach certification information and updates (levels 1, 2, 3, and 4)
- Clinic course for coaches
- Adult Learn-to-Swim Instructor certification information and updates
- National coaches clinic
Local LMSC Communications
All active USMS members will see this option.
If you opt out, you can only opt back in by checking the box in the preference center.
Emails sent from this preference center:
- Updates sent directly from your LMSC related to local events or meetings
Partner Communications
All active USMS members will see this option.
If you opt out, you can only opt back in by checking the box in the preference center.
Emails sent from this preference center:
- USMS/USA Swimming Foundation updates
- Partner advertorials for members and clubs
Marketing Initiatives
Any known contact with USMS will see this option.
If you opt out, you will be opted back in when you sign up for a marketing campaign on our website by filling out a form. Or, you can check the preference box again.

- Membership surveys
- Membership renewal messages for expired members
- Membership interaction with USMS campaigns
- Finish your USMS registration
- General join USMS communications
- Free content for non-members
- Trial membership information for non-members

Competitions and Fitness Events
Any known contact with USMS will see this option.
If you opt out, you can only opt back in by checking the box in the preference center.

If you opt out, you can only opt back in by checking the box in the preference center or are assigned to a new volunteer role. Or, you can check the preference box again. (NOTE: You should not opt out of these communications.)
